The Hamms

By Susan, Paul and Zach Hamm

Each year at this time anticipation starts to build about our summer trip to the National Family Conference.  The Hamms can’t wait to be in Orlando and at the Buena Vista Palace! We’ve filled out our registration forms and made our hotel reservations already and now we’re trying to decide what else to incorporate into this year’s trip.  Do we fly to Orlando or make the 1000+ mile drive from Houston.

That’s a long time in the car, but there’s a lot to do and see along the way!  As long as we go to a beach, I’ll be happy!

My son, Zach, is excited to see his buddies: Ryan, Tyler, Andrew, Grant,  Zemery, Nolan, Brett, Brian, Allie and Morgan and of course, Dr. Bree! He also looks forward to the Kids Camp and all the activities they have for them there.  He’s already campaigning to have a sleepover with Ryan at the hotel.  He’s also started rehearsing for the annual Talent Show held on Friday evening and can’t wait to entertain the crowd.

Paul and I are looking forward to reconnecting with our close friends, (that we refer to as our other family) the NFED staff, and meeting new families.  We’re so excited about hearing Caitlin Sarrubi speak on Wednesday evening.  She has an amazing story and sounds like such an inspiration!   It will be a wonderful beginning to a magical four days.

Of course we’re looking forward to the rest of the conference as well.  Even though we’ve attended many of the sessions in past conferences, there is always something new to learn whether it’s from one of the speakers, doctors, or another family.

Looking forward to seeing everyone soon!

Nothing beats the feeling of walking into the family conference for the first time. The best way I can describe it is a feeling of “comming home”. When my family attended out first conference in 2010 it was an amazing experience. Everyone was so kind and so loving there are no words to describe it except to say I hope each and every new family gets that feeling as soon as they walk in the door.
