April is Volunteer Appreciation Month. A time to recognize, thank and celebrate volunteers. We respect and love our Volunteers yearlong but this is your special month to cheer you on for all you have done and do for those affected by ectodermal dysplasias and the NFED.

We celebrate your service.

It has become even clearer than ever that our volunteers really are the backbone of the NFED.  You help with advocacy, family conference, fundraising, administrative tasks and operations, social media, marketing, and create awareness for ectodermal dysplasias and the NFED.  We had 559 active volunteers who logged in over 5,000 volunteer hours and we know those are not all the hours since most of you don’t even turn them in. You as a volunteer are vital to our NFED community.

I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.” – Mother Teresa

Each one of you is a unique individual who volunteers in a unique way for a unique reason.  Do you see a trend?  You are unique. You have the heart it takes to make a difference in the lives of others. You are Versatile, Optimistic, Lovable, Understanding, Nice, Talented, Energetic, Enthusiastic, and Resilient. You are our dedicated VOLUNTEER.

Thank you.

“Thank You” to all the bloggers, editors and writers, who did interviews, responded to Q&A and/or put together or edited great guest posts.

“Thank You” to everyone who liked, shared, commented or left messages and kind words on our Facebook page retweeted our tweets on twitter and/or left positive comments on our blogs.  You provided wonderful discussion, encouragement, and feedback.

“Thank You” to all who volunteered before/at/after the Family Conference and Day on the Hill. We have heard nothing but praise from all who attended and participated or presented.  We couldn’t have done it without the many helping hands, from registration, being on a panel, being a moderator or facilitator, selling promo items, manning the volunteer table, helping with the chance auction and envelope fundraiser to setting up and taking down. You were there.

“Thank You” to all who hosted a Family Fundraiser, a Walk/Run, a Facebook Fundraiser, or the Halloween Bash. We had 40 family fundraising events in 2017 that generated close to $154,000 plus over $125,000 for Halloween Bash. With your help, we were able to provide valuable services to newcomers through our First Connect Program and to our existing base of families, give generously to two important research projects and supply financial assistance to those in need.  We appreciate the endless hours of service you dedicated to holding your fundraiser.  We admire your ingenuity in creating outstanding Family Fundraisers and Facebook Fundraisers.  We were impressed with the way some of you kept being motivated and focused, even in the face of several obstacles. How about that huge rainstorm during Rally for Ally?

Thank you for your sharing your skills and knowledge, your compassion and courage, for your perseverance and kindness, for your love and caring, your passion and generosity, and for being the inspiration those affected by ectodermal dysplasias and the NFED needs. We express our deep appreciation and thankfulness to all of our volunteers.
