Update: Don't Sweat It Golf Classic! 8/17/2011

Please, read the following article on the Zach Hamm Golf Tournament.

Zach’s Mom wrote a correction to the article:”Actually some of the information about Zach in this story is incorrect.  Zach was born with only 3 toes (2 on his right foot and 1 on his left). He DOES NOT wear dentures. He had most of his baby teeth (missing 2) and is missing 9 secondary teeth.  He has bone anomalies on his hands and has an extra rib.  He does not have vision trouble nor does he have frequent respiratory infections. Zachary can be outside, but needs to be watched carefully since his sweat glands do not function properly.  He is currently in the early stages of a long orthodontia process.
 There are over 150 different types of Ectodermal Dysplasia. Zachary has ectrodactyly ectodermal dysplasias characterized by the cleft palate and missing toes and/or fingers. Another form is Hypohydrotic Ectodermal Dysplasia characterized by missing a majority of teeth, sparse hair and reduced sweat glands.The article above combined those two. The National Foundation for Ectodermal Dysplasias (NFED) does not receive any federal funding since it is considered an “orphan disease” meaning that too few of the population are affected.  100% of the proceeds generated from the Zach Hamm Don’t Sweat It Golf Classic goes to the NFED.  Yesterday’s tournament generated approximately $40,000.00 for the NFED.  Quite a bit of the success of the last 3 years in due in large part to the wonderful volunteers from the community and sponsors as well as the golfers who are willing to sweat playing golf on a hot Sunday in August since Zach and other affected children can’t.”  

Anyone who wishes to donate may visit the NFED website (nfed.org) and choose “donate” .  You may designate the donation for Zach’s Don’t Sweat It Golf classic.
